The Academy Charter School received a grant from Youth Service America to complete a Global Youth Service Day project. New Outlook Academy Students had a an exciting opportunity to attend the premier of the movie Soul On Ice: Past, Present, and Future which tells the virtually unknown contributions of black athletes in ice hockey. The movie was shown at PPG Paints Arena and the girls were treated by the Pittsburgh Penguins staff to a variety of snacks that they could enjoy during the movie. After the movie ended, the students enjoyed listening to the director of Soul On Ice, Kwame Mason, answer questions regarding his experience making the movie. The students enjoyed themselves, especially when they were able to take a picture with Iceberg, the Penguins mascot!
